Full Job Description

A great opportunity has arisen for a motivated Health and Safety advisor working in a dedicated team within the Trust HQ. The Trust takes Health and Safety seriously and works hard to ensure that both service users and staff are safe. The Health and Safety Team have a wide range responsibilities working closely with both divisional and locality teams to promote and deliver expert health and safety advice and training. The role has great opportunities for travel across the organisation working with a wide range of services including in-patient, community, secure, CAMHS and many other specialised services. This creates a job role that has a huge potential for variety autonomy. The post holder will assist the Health and Safety Manager and Head of Health and Safety in providing expertise and leadership to ensure effective interpretation of health and safety strategy and policy into operational delivery. This will include the development and promotion of effective relationships with a range of stakeholders and networks across a range of internal and external partners. To provide expert health & safety advice for all levels of personnel within the Trust and taking a lead on developing health and safety management systems, policies and guidance.,

  • Health and safety policy development
  • Investigating and analysing incidents individually and as trends
  • Monitoring key performance indicators
  • Providing advice to local health and safety and local risk and management groups
  • Health and safety advice in respect to staff, service users, contractors and members of the public
  • Health and safety auditing, monitoring at both a local and Trust wide basis and devising and monitoring resultant action plans
  • Undertaking and advising on statutory risk assessments and undertaking specific requests for specialist assessments as required
  • Support Health & Safety Manager in investigating employers liability and public liability claims
  • To assist in developing high levels of health and safety awareness across all areas of the service by organising presentations, training, leaflets and posters etc as agreed by the local health and safety meeting forum
  • Undertake workplace assessments in support of HR and occupational health
  • Provide health and safety advice with regard to estates issues of new buildings and refurbishments and existing facilities
  • To initiate and develop local policies and procedures as required in accordance with Trust policy
  • To act as a resource for managers and staff on all matters pertaining to health and safety
  • To manage specialist health and safety projects as requested
  • To maintain strict confidentiality at all times on all matters relating to service users and staff
