Band 6 Occupational Therapist - Aylesbury

The post holder will provide specialist occupational therapy assessment and treatment interventions for the specified service user group.
They will carry a complex caseload as a member of the MDT, supervise junior members of the therapy team, support the development of the occupational therapy service provision within the setting and engage in leadership development as part of the role., To carry out the initial screening and assessment of all service users and to undertake intensive short-term treatment where appropriate.
To manage a caseload of clients with complex Occupational Therapy needs, using evidence based/client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
Following assessment, to undertake case formulation in order to highlight occupational strengths and limitations and to inform the intervention plan moving forward.
To assess for and prescribe appropriate equipment and aids to enable patients' safety and independence with ADL's giving advice to other staff, families and carers when required.
To be responsible for monitoring and evaluating treatment plans, working with other teams both within the Trust and third sector organisations when appropriate.
To accurately document and record all assessments within organisational and professional guidelines.
To respect the needs and preferences of service users, their families and other significant persons in care planning and management, including assisting them in meeting their needs.
To involve patients in goals and treatment proposals gaining valid informed consent whilst working within the legal framework with patients who lack capacity for informed consent.
To apply knowledge of the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) and other standardised assessment approaches relevant to the clinical setting.
To participate in leadership development as part of the role.
To supervise and develop junior members of the therapy team including appraisal, caseload management, reviewing interventions and delegating responsibilities.

We are a close, occupational and recovery focused service that works as integral and valued members of our multidisciplinary teams.
Successful candidates must be confident in their assessment and clinical reasoning skills, be able to manage their time effectively and be a proactive member of the multi-disciplinary team.
