Full Job Description

You will demonstrate excellent communication, prioritisation and time management skills. This post will be suitable for a candidate who has a wide range of rotational experience, particularly with older people with a variety of comorbidities for example Parkinson's, falls and fractures. Established respiratory physiotherapy skills would be of significant benefit in this role.
You will join a supportive team of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in the Acute Medicine Team. You will receive regular supervision, appraisal and be encouraged to be involved in service development, audit and research. You will be expected to support and supervise other staff as well as provide practice placements for students.
The successful candidate would need to be flexible in their working as the service is provided over 7 days a week. The team are working to provide a collaborative approach to therapy across all systems.

+ To carry a clinical caseload: working to national and local guidelines and Service priorities with those who may have complex needs including physical, psychological and communication difficulties.
+ To support the team leader and clinical specialist and operational functions of the team and supervise and team members.
+ To promote independence and facilitate optimum function, working with patients, families and carers and the multi-disciplinary team to achieve agreed outcomes for patients.
+ To increase and consolidate existing clinical knowledge and skills in respiratory assessment and treatment as a physiotherapist.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our motivated and enthusiastic team working on our Acute Medicine wards at Leicester Royal Infirmary and Leicester General Hospitals. We are seeking applicants who are team players and enjoy the challenge of the acute setting. The Trust has invested significantly in our Medicine Team to support the reduction in deconditioning of patients within UHL.

The Therapy Service at UHL has a high profile within the Trust, this being reflected across our medical wards.
The Medicine therapy team are responsible for delivering a service across the medical wards at UHL, these are based at Leicester Royal Infirmary and Leicester General Hospital. The team treat a wide variety of patients including those with frailty, respiratory, falls, diabetes and Parkinsons.
You will be working alongside a large Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) to enable early rehabilitation and timely discharges of patients. We are passionate about promoting independence and preventing deconditioning in the acute hospital.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check
Please note if you are successful in obtaining this position and the post involves regulated activity you will be required to undertake a Disclosure & Barring Service check.
The Trust will pay for the check initially and the money will then be deducted from your salary over a three month period commencing on your first month's payment.
The current price of a check is £38 for an enhanced and £18 for a standard check.
