Full Job Description
You will play a key role in supporting the Ward Manager in the day-to-day operations of the ward, maintaining clinical excellence, and fostering a positive learning environment for staff.,
- Provide effective leadership and support to the nursing team, acting as a role model and mentor.
- Deliver high standards of evidence-based care to patients with complex respiratory conditions.
- Assist in managing the ward, including staffing, patient flow, and resource allocation.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualised care plans.
- Support quality improvement initiatives, audits, and the implementation of best practices.
- Ensure adherence to clinical governance and patient safety standards.
- Act as a clinical resource, providing guidance and education to staff, students, and patients.
- Deputise for the Ward Manager in their absence., Take responsibility for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for patients with a variety of respiratory conditions.
- Lead and motivate the team to deliver high standards of care, ensuring the ward runs efficiently and safely.
- Work closely with the Ward Manager to develop and achieve key performance indicators, including patient outcomes and staff development goals.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with trust policies and procedures.
- Actively contribute to the training and supervision of junior staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Support the implementation of changes to improve service delivery and patient care.
- Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement projects to enhance the ward's performance and reputation.

This role offers the opportunity to lead, inspire, and develop the nursing team while ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care in a busy and rewarding environment., Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). - Evidence of ongoing professional development relevant to respiratory care. Desirable criteria
- Additional training in respiratory care or related areas (e.g., Non-Invasive Ventilation or asthma management)., Significant post-registration experience, including work in acute care or a respiratory setting.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team, ensuring high standards of patient care.
- Experience in mentoring, supervising, or teaching staff and students in clinical practice. Desirable criteria
- Experience in coordinating complex patient care in a respiratory or acute setting., Strong clinical knowledge of respiratory conditions, treatments, and related nursing interventions.
- Excellent leadership and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage workloads and prioritize effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
- Understanding of clinical governance, patient safety, and quality improvement processes. Desirable criteria
- Proficiency in managing respiratory equipment (e.g., ventilators, CPAP, or oxygen therapy systems).
- Competence in interpreting clinical data (e.g., arterial blood gases or spirometry results).
- Ability to deliver teaching sessions and support staff in achieving competency in respiratory care., You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
