Full Job Description

The Immunisation Team are looking for an experienced Immunisation Nurse to fill our position of Senior Immunisation Team Nurse. The applicant must have an excellent understanding of the childhood immunisation programme and be a competent immuniser. The successful candidate will work in partnership with the current Band 6 Senior Immunisation Team Nurse to support the clinical delivery and co-ordination of immunisations across Birmingham and Solihull, supporting the Clinical Team Manager. This post will include delivery of health interventions to promote vaccination uptake and the delivery of the routine childhood vaccination programme along with the neo-natal hepatitis B vaccination programme .

  • To support the development , planning and deliver of the school aged immunisation programme and the neo-natal Hepatitis B prophylaxis programme.
  • To undertake appropriate health assessments prior to Immunisation, in line with Immunisation policy and current evidence based practice.
  • To Immunise Clients in line with relevant policy procedures and guidelines
  • To oversee the reporting of immunisation uptake rates for recognised areas
  • To perform dry blood spot testing in line with current guidelines.
  • To take the lead in dealing with complex issues.
  • Co-ordinate the ordering, storage and transport of vaccines, maintenance of Immunisation equipment and provision of resources necessary for service delivery.
  • To act at all times in accordance with BCHC Policies and Procedures and within the Guidelines of professional responsibility as issued by the Nursing and Midwifery council(NMC).
  • To act in accordance with local Safeguarding children guidelines and Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust policy identifying children at risk and referring on as appropriate.
  • Develop and empower all members of your team to perform to high standards and innovate.
  • To support new staff within the team
  • Carry out personal development reviews
  • To deliver training,/ workshops for staff
  • To act as a source of knowledge and information for professionals
