Band 6 Shift Lead

To be responsible for patient assessment, planning of care, giving and supervising safe and compassionate care and evaluating its effectiveness. To deliver basic and complex specialist nursing care interventions that are responsive to the individual patient's requirements. To have a sound knowledge of symptoms and be able to anticipate changes in a patient's condition, including having the ability to undertake a physical assessment and examination. To provide clinical leadership during a shift. To actively participate in the delivery of care to patients and their relatives. To support patients and families during emotionally demanding and stressful periods, with empathy, a good knowledge of loss, grief and advanced communication skills. To participate in maintaining an environment that is conducive to the delivery of a high standard of patient care.
