Full Job Description

Working alongside the existing AMU team to assist in the enhancement and development of AMU services. Focusing on delivering high quality care in a fast paced ever changing environment.

To support the senior sisters/ charge nurses and matron to ensure the provision of excellent care with compassion for all patients, relatives and visitors who are cared for within our unit.

You will undertake a variety of roles including nurse in charge of the unit, navigating the patients from the emergency department, working in SDEC clinic, being nurse in charge of an area and delivering high standard of care to all patients and relatives.

Provide strong leadership and direction for the team, monitoring and maintaining standards of care and professional practice to support the running of the unit.

Act as a professional role model and provide advice and support for other staff and students and support them in reaching their potential.

Plan, manage, direct and evaluate the nursing care for a defined caseload of patients.

Communicate effectively to all patients, relatives, visitors, colleagues and all members of the multidisciplinary team.

Ensure that the trust policies and directives are adhered to at ward level.

Partake in audits and service improvement to improve clinical practice and ensure standards are met., Your duties will include and are not limited to

X The post holder will be professionally accountable for the maintenance of standards and professional practice as set by the NMC Code of Professional Standards of Practice and Behaviour and relevant professional guidelines,

x They will regularly take charge of the practice setting or defined area of the practice setting / group of patients and take responsibility for ensuring the coordination and direct provision of high standard of holistic, patient centred care by assessing nursing care and health education needs, and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for each patient.

x To be designated to act as a deputy to the person holding continuing responsibility for the organisation and management of the practice setting.

x To demonstrate and facilitate others to develop the necessary skills and experience in ward/department management and provide leadership in the absence of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.

x Use a range of techniques to set and monitor standards of clinical practice, audit, research and teaching to continually improve standards of care and patient experience.

x To support the development and implementation of audit, quality and risk management initiatives.
