Full Job Description

A Vacancy at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.

Band 7 - Clinical Nurse Specialist working within the Substance Use Team.

v To practice as a Clinical Nurse Specialist for substance use within Forensic Services.

v To be a lead participant in the secure services substance use programme.

v To provide consultation and liaison to clinical teams and ward staff using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.

v To model the C-BIT (Cognitive Behavioural Integrated Therapy) approach and other evidence-based interventions approach through joint working with multi-disciplinary staff

v To lead in establishing, running and regularly evaluating the group programmes and 1:1 intervention.

v To lead the development of training packages for Secure Services staff and provide input into their delivery alongside other members of the multidisciplinary team.

v To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of substance use interventions using advanced clinical skills and knowledge in evidence based interventions.

v To provide clinical leadership for staff through management supervision and training.

v To work closely with third sector organisations like Narcotics Anonymous to run joint interventions.

v To provide clinical supervision and mentoring to Trainee Assistant Practitioners.

vTo consult and liaise with mental health and substance misuse services, and clinically co-work with Care Coordinators and MDT staff to provide substance use assessment and treatment.

vTo monitor, evaluate and modify treatment using appropriate outcome measures to ensure effectiveness of intervention.

vTo develop, co-ordinate and facilitate specialised group interventions for co-morbid clients and families.

vTo select, apply and advise on assessments and interventions for clients with complex combined problems.
