Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity for a Band 7 post has become available within the Colorectal CNS team based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Our team provides care and support for patients undergoing treatment for a variety of colorectal conditions including Colorectal cancer, IBD and Intestinal failure. As this is a senior position within the team, experience and knowledge surrounding the speciality of colorectal nursing is essential. The successful candidate will be part of a supportive team and work with the MDT to deliver excellent care to our patients., Our team provides care and support for patients on both an in-patient and outpatient basis. We provide stoma care and fistula care for patients during their hospital stay and also through our nurse led outpatient clinics and telephone clinics, therefore evidence of expertise in this field will be necessary. One of our main responsibilities involves providing support for patients and their families at the time of a new cancer diagnosis and onwards through treatments including surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Knowledge of the colorectal pathway and excellent communication skills are therefore integral to the role. The ability to work autonomously and as part of a wider team is essential in this position, and effective time management skills will be required. Education of patients, carers and ward staff is also a large part of our role and the successful candidate will be committed to providing teaching and act as a mentor to junior members of staff. There are plentiful
