Full Job Description

We are one of the largest maternity units in the Midlands, delivering approximately 8,400 births annually to a diverse population. Our dedicated team includes over 400 midwives, 34 consultants, and a multi-professional staff of anaesthetists, sonographers, and neonatal experts.

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Maternity Services at University Hospitals Birmingham for a dedicated and motivated midwife to take on the role of Delivery Suite Coordinator. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Matron, Band 7 Delivery Suite Manager, and obstetric medical colleagues to ensure exceptional care for women and their families. A strong commitment to midwifery practice and safety, along with excellent organisational and leadership skills, is essential. The individual will provide clinical leadership, fostering a team philosophy that promotes and reflects the highest standards of care for pregnant women and their families.

We have excellent professional development opportunities, which will be adapted to support you in this role., In this role you will be expected to demonstrate strong clinical and leadership skills . You will work closely with the ward managers and the existing Band 7 coordinators, to ensure that the Maternity Unit is operationally safe, effective and well led.

Ensure effective, safe and responsive day to day management of the labour ward, supervising and managing all staff to maintain high standards of care.

You must be able to demonstrate that you have sound clinical knowledge base, expertise and a passion for promoting normality within the complex care setting. We are looking for someone who understands the role of managing a shift and can delegate and lead the demands of the wider maternity service.

You will demonstrate a high level of communication and organisational skills and work both under pressure and as part of a high performing clinical multi professional team.

You will be responsible for the management of resources, audit and quality monitoring, data collection, clinical leadership and deployment of staff.

Manage and take responsibility for the maternity unit with support from the Maternity senior management team via the escalation policy.

Demonstrate effective clinical leadership and role modelling, be able to inspire, motivate and empower others. This will require you to be highly visible and have an accessible approach to women, their families and staff.
