Band 7 Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist - Paeds / Neonates

We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and innovative Occupational Therapist with highly specialist skills and knowledge in the field of paediatrics to apply and join our small but expanding Paediatric Therapy Service.

This post will support inpatient neonates and be instrumental in embedding Neonatal Occupational Therapy services within our level 2 unit. They will use highly specialist skills to manage their own complex caseload, working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT).

Through structured job planning, this role will provide dedicated Occupational Therapy cover to the Neonatal Unit at Queen's Hospital three days per week. The postholder will additionally provide supervision to B6 Paediatric Occupational Therapist as services expand. The postholder will link closely with the London Neonatal Operational Delivery Network to access additional supervision, peer support and development opportunities., oThrough a holistic approach, to provide a specialist standard of Occupational Therapy service to neonatal patients and carers, facilitating and maximising patient and carer safety and potential within the service boundaries.

oTo be an integral member of the inter-disciplinary team (IDT) setting patient-centred aims, goals and targets within the comprehensive care packages including referral to community and other hospital settings.

oTo take a lead role as a highly specialised clinician acting as an autonomous practitioner in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of a diverse caseload giving highly specialist guidance and advice to other members of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) on matters relating to your specialist area.

oTo demonstrate sound knowledge and skills in the management of a diverse range of neonatal conditions.

oTo assist the Band 8a Clinical Lead Therapist in the planning, development, and delivery of the Children's Occupational Therapy Service at BHRUT.

We're looking forward to introducing an electronic patient record next year. This will mean the records of any patient visiting one of the seven hospitals run by BHRUT and Barts Health will be accessible to the clinical teams. It'll make things easier for staff and will be better for patients.
