Full Job Description

Our Medical Rehabilitation and Frailty team is seeking an experienced Clinician to lead our Occupational Therapists in Acute Medicine, and to develop a more integrated approach to hospital discharge in line with latest national initiatives. The knowledge and skills of Occupational Therapists are key in supporting patients living with frailty and complex needs, and in assisting them in recovering from acute illness and enabling them to return 'home first'. We are ambitiously seeking to take this one step further by supporting this transition home through agile and innovative pathways, facilitating improved outcomes in conjunction with our community colleagues., As the Band 7 Occupational Therapist, you will provide advanced clinical skills in the assessment and management of patients with complex health and social needs, relating these to the persons occupational therapy needs on the ward and at home. This will include managing your own caseload as well as supporting other team members, and providing specialist advice to the MDT for patients not directly under your care., To be responsible for the day to day running of the medical rehabilitation Occupational Therapy service ensuring that all medical rehabilitation patients are given appropriate and effective Occupational Therapy treatment across the Acute Assessment Unit, medical wards and the outlying patients on other wards.To work as an autonomous practitioner in providing Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment to own designated caseload of patients and to maintain up to date Occupational Therapy records.To use evidence based principles/current best practise and specialist skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions and to ensure that all members of your team do likewise.To participate in CPD, appraisal and other developmental activities and encourage all members of your team to do likewise.To be responsible for the supervision, teaching and day to day line management of more junior staff, assistants and students on placement.To have the opportunity to participate in, or lead, a
team based or department based research project.
