Band 7 - Senior dispensary pharmacist, Pharmacy

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled, innovative and enthusiastic pharmacist to join our Dispensary team.
We are looking for a proactive, motivated and ambitious Senior Dispensary Pharmacist to co-ordinate the clinical screening of work within the dispensary, working closely with the dispensary team to manage the daily workflow through the department.
They will provide training to pharmacists rotating through the dispensary, as well as acting as a professional lead and role model for the dispensary workforce.
Core hours are Monday to Friday, 8:45 am to 5:15 pm., To assist in the provision of a safe, efficient, and comprehensive pharmaceutical service for the patients of West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
To provide a clinical pharmacy service to in-patients and outpatients.
To partake in specialised clinical pharmacy duties on the Ambulatory Care Unit and Medical Assessment Unit.
Providing prescribing advice and support to junior medical staff.
Educating patients about their medicines.
Training of medical and nursing staff.
Supervision and training of junior and Foundation trainee pharmacists, technicians and assistants.
Participation in clinical audit and practice research.

To clinically screen and check clinical trial prescriptions in the absence of the clinical trials pharmacist.
To be involved in the recruitment, retention and development of staff through appraisal.
To work with the dispensary manager to implement and update dispensary procedures, engaging all stakeholders as appropriate.
To participate and design dispensary related audits and data collection.
To work with the operational and EPR teams to develop new ways of working.
To participate late duty / weekend rotas & Bank Holiday rotas as required
To carry out any other duties as required by the Pharmacy Operations Manager.
