Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Lead Occupational Therapist working within a Comprehensive Stroke Unit. If you are a kind and compassionate individual with experience and skills relevant to the post, we would leave to hear from you.

You will work alongside an existing Band 7 Team Lead. We are seeking someone with appropriate skills in the management of Hyper-acute and Acute Stoke, in-patient rehabilitation and discharge planning, working closely within the Stroke multi-disciplinary team.

You will be required to support the team in managing a caseload of varying complexities. An understanding of the cognitive impact to patients, seating and positioning skills is essential. You will work closely with Specialist Rehabilitation teams, with access to a wheelchair clinic and splint clinic for more complex patients.

You will be required to provide regular supervision to staff, complete annual appraisals and support with OT undergraduate students., You will be required to:

Co-ordinate and develop the Hyper-Acute and Acute clinical service in Stroke and provide clinical leadership, liaising with the Clinical Specialist and Clinical Lead for Occupational Therapy and other team leads.

Support in leading the Stroke Occupational Therapy team and influence a positive culture & environment.

Manage a complex caseload of varying presentations requiring a multi skilled approach, demonstrating specialist expertise and knowledge within Stroke, supporting staff as required.

Have knowledge of specialist seating & positioning and an in-depth understanding of the cognitive impact to patients, with the ability to assess and offer ward based rehabilitation, making recommendations for ongoing care. Training and development opportunities will be available.
