Band 7 Senior Paediatric Occupational Therapist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join our community Paediatric Occupational Therapy team at the Newberry Child Development Centre. We are looking for a positive, proactive clinician to help us build a strong future for our Paediatric Occupational therapy team. You will have your own clinical caseload, providing advanced specialist assessments and interventions to a wide range of children and young people. You will also provide clinical support to team members and students as well as assist in their training and development. You will play an integral role in service development and work closely with the leadership of the team.

We very much welcome applicants from qualified Sensory Integration therapists (up to Module 3 or 4) however, there will be opportunities to undertake this training, for the right candidate.
Onsite parking is available and a driving licence is essential., As a Band 7 Paediatric Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for your own complex caseload consisting of patients with a variety of different conditions whilst leading on the supporting/training of team members to develop within this specialist field and to manage their own caseloads. Good prioritisation, organisational and time management skills will be needed to balance clinical and non-clinical duties. You will need advanced communication skills to ensure a successful multidisciplinary approach to patient care, working in close liaison with the other teams including Neurodevelopmental and Physiotherapy. You will be in regular discussions with children, young people and their families, as well as other health, education and social care professionals. You will be responsible for other non-clinical duties such as in-service development ideas, training/supervision of students, therapy assistant practitioners and colleagues. This will include the use
of formal appraisal documentation., + To assist in the planning, co-ordination, delivery and evaluation of the Therapy Service (Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy) provided to children and young people including: patients with complex presentation throughout the Trust, on a day-to-day basis. This includes ensuring the team's workload is appropriately prioritised and work is effectively distributed and co-ordinated across the team on a day-by-day basis
+ To work with children and young people with life limiting and palliative care conditions which can be very emotive at times
+ To provide leadership to Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy staff in the Therapy Team
+ To be responsible for service development within the specialty
+ To implement policy and policy changes in own clinical area, which affect the whole Therapy Service and the Trust
+ To work closely with the multidisciplinary team in order to receive timely, appropriate referrals and use patient information to help prioritise the work
+ To develop shared goals along with other teams within the department along with Head of Neonatal and Children and Young Peoples Services and AHP Matron
+ To take the lead role in the advanced assessment and treatment of children and young people within the speciality who may have complex presentation, and to determine clinical diagnosis and Occupational Therapy treatment indicated, and to maintain records as an autonomous practitioner
+ To actively develop the clinical skills of team members
+ To work a rostered 5 day shift pattern. Flexible working also available following discussion with AHP Matron
+ To work within the Newberry Child Development Centre, Education or community health setting as required
