Full Job Description

You will work closely with the multi-professional and dietetic teams. You will be expected to balance long stay meetings, ward board rounds, multi-disciplinary meetings, Band 7 meetings alongside a clinical case load managing at least 4 wards, including the coronary care unit with the support of a band 5 Dietitian and 3 Dietetic assistant.

You will lead role in the assessment and treatment of a variety of highly complex inpatients, for example patients who require nutritional optimisation for heart and or lung transplant or surgery, post lung transplant in cystic fibrosis, optimisation of nutrition with mechanical circulatory devices, management of chylothorax.

You should have dietetic experience within cardiac-thoracic surgery and cardiology. Also experience, skills and knowledge in home/enteral feeding, nutritional support, education, training, clinical supervision, line management teaching and audit will be required.

You will also be involved in personal and staff development through reflective practice, competency assessment, mentoring and student training.

The Dietetic department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham is excited to advertise a substantive Band 7 to lead the cardiothoracic, cardiology, transplantation, critical care patient care pathway.

The QEH is one of seven hospitals which currently have a cardiothoracic transplant unit in the UK and is a single site 100 bed critical care unit which specialises in delivering care to patients who have undergone highly complex surgery including cardiac, liver, neurology, major trauma and Burns.

We are searching for a Dietitian who is looking to achieve their career aspirations in cardio-thoracic surgery/transplantation and cardiology and wants to advance their clinical leadership and service development skills in a supportive and forward thinking large dietetic team.

You will work closely with the clinical leads, wider band 7, multi-professional and therapy teams. The post is 100% committed to CPD; with opportunities to be involved in research/audit and presenting at conferences nationally and internationally.
