We are pleased to offer this exciting opportunity to join our friendly and dynamic team, to assist in the provision of high quality aseptic services to patients across the West Midlands.

The Cancer Services Division at UHB delivers world class cancer care to patients from across the country, with a range of specialised services in oncology and haematology, delivered by a team of specialist pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and assistant technical officers.

You will be part of an expanding team of highly professional and dedicated staff whose aim is to provide an excellent, patient focussed service.

The ever growing and expanding service is looking for motivated individuals to assist in building healthier lives for our patients, by developing the aseptic service which is critical to the treatment of our oncology and haematology patients.

We promote learning and development within our organisation., As the Deputy Accountable Pharmacist, the role will include a variety of tasks, enabling you to develop your knowledge and skills through structured education and training opportunities. It provides a rewarding opportunity to assist in the preparation of cytotoxic drugs, monoclonal antibodies, CIVAS, OPAT and innovative treatments such as clinical trials in a safe and efficient manner according to Good Manufacturing Practice and National Standards.

As the Deputy Accountable Pharmacist you will work closely with the Accountable Pharmacist, Quality Assurance Team and Senior Production Team to manage the unit, this will include:

  • Managing the Quality Management System


  • Educating and Training Staff


  • Finance reporting


  • KPI reporting


  • HR Management


  • Clinical duties (the level of clinical duties can be discussed upon appointment)


  • Training and developmental opportunities will be provided within the role, via both internal training packages as well as external training courses.

    This includes opportunities to complete:

  • Leadership Courses


  • Aseptic Services for Managers course (University of Leeds)


  • MSC Pharmaceutical Technology and Quality Assurance


  • This is a full-time position, working across two aseptic units at UHB, Melchett Road Aseptic Production Unit and Heartlands Hospital. Part-time positions will be considered.

    Applicants that don't meet the person specification requirements for the role will be considered for a progressional position, starting at a Band 7 role.
