Full Job Description
The Materials Management Operative is a customer-facing role requiring a strong customer service work ethic and commitment to being always proactive and positive. The role will require working in a team, operating the Trust's goods inwards / outwards systems for delivering goods to Wards and Departments. The post holder will be expected to assist customers who come to the Main Stores, checking goods received against delivery documents and picking and packing supplies as per requisitions received from Services within the Trust. To work as part of Materials Management team to carry out: Receipting and distribution of all goods ordered. To review stock levels and manage stock inventory in line with clinical activity, and scan, order and put away as per the schedule. This role requires the post holder to be physically fit. This is a broad summary of the role detailing key areas of operation and responsibilities - further detail will be provided in the Main Duties and Responsibilities section, below, which provides more granular detail. Monday to Friday (7.5 hours shifts) ,Core hours are between 7-5
- The post holder will be in daily contact with ward and service managers and staff within the hospital
- Procurement - Clinical Specialists, Contracts Team, Customer Services
- Divisional team engagement
- Ward review meetings
- H&S to include Major Incident
- Finance - e-Financials Systems Team, Accounts Payable.
- Other hospital services including Facilities, Estates
- All levels of Trust staff External (if applicable)
- The post holder will also be in regular contact with the goods receiving staff and NHS Logistics teams
- Suppliers (inc. couriers)

Make judgements about stock levels required on wards and departments using bar code technology replenishing stock to agreed levels. Maintain effective liaison with the NHS Supply Chain and suppliers. Be familiar with and adhering to Trust policies and guidance on infection, prevention and control. Assist in the upkeep of ward areas in relation to the storage and replenishment of consumable products. Carry out accurate counting & scanning / input and uploading of information / put away stock for a designated number of wards/departments. Locate and provide emergency supplies of products to ward/department areas when required. Assist in the processing of Non-Stock Materials Management requests and maintain effective relationships with the purchasing staff. Maintains stock at agreed levels, responsibility for the security of goods during delivery and/or put away process. Deliveries should be "broken down" immediately. Under no circumstances should cages and totes be left on wards/departments unattended.
