Bank Dentist- Out of Hours Emergency Dental Service

NCIC Special Care and Community Dental Service is seeking to recruit additional local dental practitioners to the team of experienced dentists participating in the Out of Hours Emergency Dental Service managed by the Trust at Barrow Dental Centre., The main role of the Primary Care Dental Officer is to provide emergency and urgent care identified through the dental triage process.

The duties may require under exceptional circumstances to operate beyond the normal operating hours. This may be to accommodate the late arrival of an emergency patient or to complete urgent treatment already commenced. It is expected that these instances should be few in number, by exception and occur only when no other clinical alternative is possible to ensure the safety of the patient.

We're responsible for delivering over 70 services across 15 main locations and we employ more than 6,500 members of staff.
  
  This scheme provides emergency and urgent care to patients who have been initially triaged by trained dental care professionals and NHS111.


The four-hour sessions are undertaken at Barrow Dental Centre Monday- Thursday17.45 to 21.45 . Weekends and bank holidays 8.30 to 12.30 Shifts are allocated to a bank of clinicians on a rota basis.

The Trust liaises closely with NHS England who commission this service and the Local Professional Network. There is a locally agreed sessional rate with enhancements for bank holidays.

This role would suit experienced dentists who wish to contribute in the provision of emergency and urgent care to the local population and to develop and enhance this particular skill.
