Full Job Description

An opportunity has arisen to join Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), to assist the Learning and Development Department in a bank capacity as a Bank General Instructor Assessor Support. SFRS use qualified and experience individuals in a bank capacity to support our internal team of General Instructors to deliver a range of core firefighting skills, such as Breathing Apparatus, Water Rescue, Working at Height, and Road Traffic Collision. Currently, we are inviting interest from those who would like to support assessing and verifying activities as part of our Quality Assurance framework in delivering Apprenticeship and Development Programmes. You will be based at Wray Park Training Centre, Reigate and could be asked to support from both the training centre and across any of SFRS Fire Stations. Rewards and Benefits

  • About the role As a Bank General Instructor, your role will include supporting the internal delivery of Assessor qualification and support, as part of our supervisory development programs. The role will involve visiting SFRS locations to carry out support visits and assessments of teaching and learning and assessment activities. There will also be a requirement to organise, chair and/or support standardisation activities and record minutes in line with our qualifications centres policies. This opportunity is offered on Surrey County Council Terms and Conditions. Main duties and responsibilities:
  • Support Line Managers in achieving their Assessor Qualification
  • Arrange and carry out observations of assessments on relevant fire stations
  • Arrange and carry out observations of teaching and learning to support the apprenticeship team
  • Organise and host monthly standardisation meetings for assessors

    To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:
  • A Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) or A1 qualification
  • Experience of working in a Fire Service

    The starting salary for this position is £19.03 per hour (pro rata to £35,730 FTE).
