Housekeepers are responsible to provide and maintain cleaning and catering services as part of the Hotel Services team to office, patient and communal areas within the Trust. Ensuring a clean, safe and supportive environment for staff and patients working towards their recovery. You will need to be passionate and enthusiastic about patient care putting patients at the heart of everything you do. You will be working in a multi-professional team and will need to be able to think on the spot and be empathetic. You will be passionate about our business, creating a culture of continuous improvement. Main duties of the job We require a friendly, positive thinking, organised and motivated individual to work as a Housekeeper within the Trusts Hotel Services Team., Please refer to the attached job description and person specification for further detailed information to ensure that you meet the role criteria before applying.

You should be highly motivated, reliable, and flexible also willing to work at short notice as there may be opportunities for extra hours. Experience in cleaning duties and use of chemicals and equipment are essential as you will be working in a demanding environment. Catering and food service experience would be beneficial along with a passion to providing high standards of customer service. Experience of working or volunteering in a Mental Health and Learning disabilities is essential. Also, the ability to provide a positive approach and image, when working with relevant client groups throughout the Trust. Candidates must possess Food Hygiene Certificate level 2 or work towards successful completion in an agreed timescale. Essential are; Numeracy, Literacy and IT level 2. (Equivalent to GCSE grades 9 to 4 (A

  • to C in old GCSE grading system)
  • NVQ Level 2 Housekeeping is desirable. All candidates should demonstrate a commitment to undertake further training and qualifications as deemed necessary to the position within agreed timescales.,
  • Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2 (to be completed within 12 months)
  • Numeracy and Literacy to level 2
  • ITQ Level 2
  • Desirable NVQ Level 2 in Housekeeping Experience Essential
  • Experience in use of cleaning materials and equipment
  • Experience in general cleaning duties
  • Experience of working or volunteering in a mental health or learning disabilities environment
  • Desirable Experience cleaning in a hospital environment Knowledge Essential
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH
  • Knowledge of National Standard of Cleanliness
  • Knowledge of deep-cleaning procedures
  • Knowledge of Patient-Lead Assessment of the Care Environment (PLACE)
  • Good understanding of confidentiality
  • Skills Essential
  • Able to follow protocols and instructions
  • Able to demonstrate thoroughness and attention to detail in all tasks
  • Safe, efficient and effective techniques in the following areas, producing consistently high standards : Cleaning; Deep cleaning;
  • Use of motorised cleaning equipment . floor scrubber, carpet cleaner; Use of kitchen equipment; Preparation and serving of food;
  • Use and cleaning of regeneration ovens; Washing and ironing
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Time management and ability to prioritise effectively
  • Breakaway techniques

    The post holder will be based at Cross Lane Hospital and will be required to work shifts between the hours of 7am-6pm including weekends.
