Full Job Description

The Worthgate School offers an outstanding international pre-university educational experience to students aged 13+ from all over the world.

Students study for GCSEs, A levels and University Foundation Programmes, and preparing for admission to universities across the country and elsewhere.

We pride ourselves on our approach to teaching and learning, with small class sizes and an informal atmosphere ensuring that students are treated as individuals and build great relationships with staff., As a Bank Operations Assistant, you will work as part of an extension to our Operations Team on a zero-hour basis helping to cover sickness and holiday absences, as well as support additional workloads in our peak periods such as our Summer School which operates between June August.

You will undertake various duties across the Cleaning and Catering departments as directed, ensuring tasks are completed in an efficient and timely manner, whilst maintaining high standards at all times.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Cleaning :

Cleaning and upkeep of school teaching buildings and boarding house residences. Cleaning tasks include, but are not limited to : dusting surfaces, wiping door handles, mopping floors, vacuuming carpets, cleaning restrooms, showers & residence communal kitchens, emptying bins and replenishing stocks.

Use equipment, machinery and cleaning materials effectively, efficiently and in accordance with safe working practices.

Daily cleaning of College and School of English buildings

Weekly cleaning of individual houses

Check toilets and communal areas are clean and tidy at regular intervals.

Keep outside areas free of rubbish.

Report any cleanliness / health and safety / repair issues to line manager promptly

Deal with all customers (students, staff, external) with courtesy and promptness at all times.

Use equipment, machinery and cleaning materials effectively, efficiently and in accordance with safe working practices to carry out your duties

Work independently, or in small teams as / when required, to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner

Catering :

Food preparation as required

Assist with the serving of food during mealtimes.

Maintain hygiene standards, within the current regulations.

Ensure that all Health and Safety regulations are obeyed.

Ensure that the kitchens and dining rooms are maintained in a clean state.

Cleaning of kitchen equipment

Operating of the Pot Wash facility, including loading and unloading of utensils, cutlery, plates etc.

Assist with the serving of the Coffee Bar facility

Food preparation of snacks as required

Preparation, making of and serving of hot beverages as required

Ensure that the Coffee Bar and Coffee Bar areas are maintained in a clean state

Able to work on your own initiative.

Able to follow instructions and adhere to processes.

Health and Safety (including COSHH) awareness and knowledge is desirable.

Previous work experience within a residential environment is advantageous.
