Full Job Description

The Orthoptic and Optometry department at Maidstone Hospital are looking for a bank clerical officer to assist with the administrative duties to support the Orthoptic and Optometry services in the eye clinic., The post involves registering patients, booking patients in for their appointment, answering the telephone, handling patient records, preparing notes for clinics and tracking them to health records, monitoring the waiting room and supporting the clinical team with clerical queries., The Orthoptic and Optometry clerical team are looking for bank staff to work 2 sessions a week.
The post-holder will be responsible for providing a front-line reception service for the Orthoptic Department patients, their relatives/carers, visitors and staff ensuring a high standard of customer care to all. This involves welcoming patients to the Orthoptic Department, booking them in and out of the clinics, cashing clinics up, arranging follow up appointments and dealing with telephone and face to face enquiries from patients, relatives /carers and other health professionals.
The post holder is also responsible for arranging patient's health records for clinics by requesting, locating and preparing the notes for the Orthoptists.
The post holder needs to have knowledge of and adhere to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures with regard to appointments, waiting lists, admission and discharge procedures, hospital records and recording of information for statistical purposes.
