Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic bank qualified plaster technicians to join our bank team to work across site at both the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Hospitals outpatients.

You must hold the British Casting Certificate (formerly BOA/BOAN diploma in plastering technique) and have experience working in a plaster room. Due to the spectrum of specialty clinics, the role is exciting and varied. You will need to have wide-ranging clinical skills to ensure the smooth running of the department.

The bank qualified plaster tech will ensure that patients are safe, cared for and listened to. We are looking a plaster technician who can communicate with the multi-disciplinary team and is committed to delivering high quality patient care, is approachable and flexible. You can work autonomously and flexible, visible and responsive approach to your work.

We are happy to support flexible working including compressed hours working over Monday-Friday 8am-6pm, however the role is patient facing.

Main duties of the job

Maintain training and practice in the application and removal of a variety of casts and braces using a variety of tools.

Apply and remove the above as part of the patient's treatment.

Assist in the management of wound care and treatment ensuring that the patient's comfort, privacy and dignity is maintained at all times.

Give appropriate advice to the patient on the care of their cast or brace, considering the individual's level of understanding and compliance.

Deal with face to face and telephone enquiries or complaints and refer to senior member of staff as appropriate.

Work with Nursing team and clinicians as appropriate

Work in specialised areas such as theatres, ED, ITU and diabetic clinics as required

Work as part of multi- disciplinary team including medical staff and nursing staff, clinicians and AHP's

Observe and report any equipment in other than perfect condition, to ensure patient's comfort and safety.

Clean equipment and patient areas and arrange further cleaning as required

Generally work unsupervised within well-established procedures and/or practices and has standards and results to be achieved
