We are excited to be able to offer a full time / part time, bank contract providing two days a week term time working at Leicester College offering Speech and Language therapy services , working with learners with a learning disability and other needs.

The successful candidate will be working autonomously with the learners and college staff to provide communication and swallowing interventions within a modern and purpose-built college setting.

The college is situated near the city centre, with free parking and an outside space for group activities and time away from the office.

Alongside the Leicester College role you would also have an opportunity to work some extra hours (up to 3 days ) with the LD Community team, to expand on you knowledge and skills. The successful candidate will work with the community to provide communication and swallowing Interventions.

You would be part of a friendly, supportive SALT team based in the Adult Learning Disability service. Management and clinical supervision would be provided on a regular basis, and you will have the opportunity to access peer support, CPD sessions and other professional activities as part of your role.

Main duties of the job

You will be working with learners with a learning disability and other needs.

  • The successful candidate will be working autonomously with the learners, college staff and LD Community to provide communication and swallowing interventions within a modern and purpose-built college setting.

  • Demonstrate well-developed skills in dealing with complex clinical issues, ensuring effective caseload management.

  • Provide assessment, diagnosis and intervention approaches for children with communication, and where appropriate, eating and drinking needs.

  • Demonstrate well-developed skills in dealing with complex clinical issues, ensuring effective caseload management.

  • Empower and enable carers to facilitate communication skills in adult with a learning disability.

  • Provide advice to others regarding the support of adults with learning disabilities with communication and / or eating and drinking needs.

  • Advise on the promotion of positive communication environment. to meet needs.

  • Refer on to other services / agencies as appropriate.

  • Ensure quality, safety and reduction of risk in service delivery by use of evidence- based practice.

  • Produce written reports regarding needs, summarising proposed intervention plans and future recommendations.
