Great Ormond Street are seeking ambitious and motivated nurse practitioners to join their team in GOSH. Many of our patients are on a long journey to recovery, and so our nurses build strong relationships with them and their families. This role is a great opportunity for experienced ICU paediatric nurses to provide critical care for patients who have a variety of underlying medical conditions. The critical care units at GOSH include general, cardiac, and neonatal ICUs. We would welcome applications for adult ICU, neonatal and paediatric ICU nurses., · Ability to promote family centered care and establish good relationships with children, young people, and their families.
· To communicate effectively at all levels within the multi-disciplinary team.
· To communicate sensitive information to patients, carers and providing the support needed during distressing times.
· To be able to take charge of the ward in the absence of senior nursing staff following achievement of required competence.
· To be familiar with and adopt the principles of the NHS Chief Nursing Officers vision for Compassion in Practice.
· To ensure a positive welcoming environment is provided for the children and their respective families.
· To be competent in administering medication confidently.
· Ability to demonstrate competency in the use of relevant Trust IT systems.

Summary of the hospital: Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) is one of the top five children's hospitals in the world and one of the most technologically advanced. The hospital includes speciality wards such as Eagle ward which is the largest paediatric renal unit in the UK, Fox ward which focuses on orthopaedics and spinal surgery for children and young people etc.
76,000 children each year are seen by qualified experts in around 250,000 admissions and appointments. With around 750 seriously ill children and young people seen at GOSH from all over the UK for life-changing treatment and care. This makes GOSH a very busy children's hospital!

The recruitment process for all admin and clerical roles at Bands 2-4 will be a two stage recruitment process whereby shortlisted candidates will undertake an online literacy, numeracy, ICT and typing test. Only those candidates who pass the competency test will proceed to a formal interview.
