Full Job Description

This role is based in the UK and will be working on site in our UK based College. In order to comply with our mandatory pre-employment checks, the successful candidate will be required to provide original identification documents in person to our UK based HR Team. The bar's opening times are Monday 19.30 - 23.00 and Tuesday - Sunday 20.00 - 23.00. PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PERSONS (THE CHILDREN'S ACT 1989) Any offers of appointment will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly CRB), a certificate of good conduct if applicable, plus receipt of satisfactory references, Occupational Health clearance, an understanding of safeguarding and qualifications verification. An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position as you will be working within 'Regulated Activity' within a specific place (i.e. the College)., The Bar Assistant will support the running of the Student Bar, providing an inviting environment in which the recreational needs of students, members of staff and guests can be met. You will ensure all financial returns from the bar operations are compliant with the relevant legislation relating to the selling of intoxicating drinks., To assist in the running of the Student Bar. To Provide an inviting environment in which the recreational needs of students, members of staff and guests can be met whilst optimising financial returns from the bar ensuring all bar operations are in compliance with the relevant legislation relating to the selling of intoxicating drinks.,

  • Preparing and serving of food and drinks.
  • Glass collecting and cleaning.
  • Keeping the bar tidy - both front and rear of house.
  • Helping ensure customer have a fun, pleasant visit.
  • Ensure that College policies on Health and Safety are implemented and to effect the safe use of all equipment and machinery within the bar.
  • Cash and card payment handling.
  • Restocking and recording of wastage.
  • Follow legislation, requesting ID, reporting and challenging behaviour.
  • Support at events held by the college bar, SU, activity events.
  • Handovers to the Bar Manager
  • In order to support during busy exam periods, you may be asked to undertake exam invigilator duties. The College will provide training. The list of duties is not exhaustive but outlines the main features of the post at appointment and may vary as the job evolves without affecting the nature of the duties or the responsibility level. OFFERS OF WORK For the successful candidate a conditional offer of work will be made.   • You must be 18 years or older, in line with licensing law

  • Versatile, flexible and adaptable.
  • Previous experience in a customer service environment and ideally bar work.

  • Prepared to undertake Level 2 in Food Safety and First Aid.
