Full Job Description

A behavioural trainer / coach is required to assist with the delivery of the Love for Life Behavioural Programme at SCS JV. The individual will be part of the Behavioural Programme Team that is within the Health, Safety and Wellbeing department on the project. The role is fundamental to setting expectations about the desired values and behaviours required when working on the project, particularly those that help to ensure that we keep everyone safe and well.,

  • Delivery of the Love for Life Orientation sessions to new starters

  • Supporting the asset based delivery of Love for Life Orientation

  • Delivery of effective communication programme to supervisors (forms part of the FLS assessment process)

  • Delivery of Pressures We Face sessions to Engineers and support functions

  • Delivering train the trainer courses for Love for Life Orientation and Effective Communication

  • Field-based coaching as needed

  • Assisting with the delivery of other Health and Safety training as required

  • Maintaining records of attendance and producing reports

  • Creating content and material as needed

  • Assisting with the delivery of Stand Up / Stand Down / Impact Day content as required

  • Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners' Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations and ensure that the requirements, as applicable within their discipline, are implemented on the project., You'll be a welcomed member of the wider team, with opportunities to take on additional responsibility, join one of our networks for women, military or LGBT+ staff, and participate in cultural and social events with the local community (e.g. as a STEM ambassador).

Develop a culture of safety on the project through the absolute commitment to the Zero Accidents target and ethos, and develops a wider awareness of quality, environmental issues and demonstrates commitment to achieve continual improvement and Zero tolerance.

  • Experienced trainer and coach (required)

  • Background in health, safety and wellbeing and relevant qualifications e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH etc (required)

  • Knowledge and experience in delivering behavioural safety content and cultural programmes (required)

  • Experience in creating training course content (required)

  • Comfortable with using Microsoft applications - Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Teams (required)

  • Experience of working in construction / rail / tunnelling (desirable)


  • Coaching qualification (desirable), A physical or mental impairment, which has a substantial and long-term effect (over 12 months) adverse effect on your ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities

  • Demonstrated in your application and pre-interview stage that you meet the minimum job criteria and person specification for the role

    The role will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK's new high speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK's 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high speed services


  • The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
