Benefit Officer X2 Grade 5 (£30,495 - £31,440) -

The Benefits service is a busy team supporting over 30,000 residents in Croydon with Housing Benefit and Council Tax support. We support low income residents and families to pay their rent and council tax, customer service is at the heart of what we do as we aim to provide a good and sustainable service for those who need it.

The team deal with various methods of contact via telephones, email and on-line forms. The role entails answering claimants calls and dealing with their queries in relation to their benefit claims, as well as working through emails and forms sent in by claimants updating us with their change of circumstances. There will be the need to call residents to clarify information and advise them of their current benefit entitlements.

We are looking for enthusiastic people with Benefits experience to join the team and support our residents. You will need to have knowledge of Benefits legislation and how each benefit is assessed and applied, good written and verbal communication skills and be competent in maths.
