Full Job Description

Derbyshire County Council Welfare Rights Service is committed to maximising the benefits of Derbyshire residents. In the financial year 2023/24 the Welfare Rights Service supported over 25,000 Derbyshire residents with benefit enquiries, providing information, advice, casework, and appeal representation.
This position sits on our Benefit Support Team within the Welfare Rights Service. The team focus on supporting key workstreams: social work and finance referrals from the Social Work Team, and callback, advice line, and questionnaires from the Advice Line and Appeals Team.
The team proudly work to support Derbyshire pensioners receive their full benefit entitlement. We offer all Derbyshire residents a benefit check and advice is usually provided via the telephone but can include letter, email and attending home visits. The post holder will have a caseload of benefit cases to progress to resolution. All staff attend events and provide briefings to partners that raise awareness of the service. The post will require travel across the county.
The successful candidate will have a passion to make a difference, excellent interpersonal and communication skills working with the public and external agencies, and awareness of benefits for those over pension age.
