Full Job Description

An opportunity exists in the Council's Bereavement Services for a Bereavement Support Officer working from our offices at Normanton. What will be expected from me? The post holder will work as part of a team in the Council's Bereavement Service with the primary role of maintaining the support of the management of Bereavement Services Memorial Safety programme. Other duties, relating to the administration of burials and cremations, will also be part of the role, once the primary duties have been completed. What I might be doing? They will primarily be responsible with the administration, (issuing letters, updating records, recording photographs, dealing with enquiries from grave owners/members of the public etc) of the Council's Memorial Safety Programme, which involves the inspection of memorials throughout the Council's 19 cemeteries and 35+ closed cemeteries. The successful candidate with closely liaise with the Memorial Safety Team working in the cemeteries and help co-ordinate and organise their work. Also, at busy periods they will be expected to assist with the administration of Burial and Cremation paperwork, delivering exceptional customer service, whilst working in a manner that maintains an atmosphere of reverence and respect., The post holder will work as part of a team in the Council's Bereavement Service with the primary role of maintaining the support of the management of Bereavement Services Memorial Safety programme.   • Appropriate training / qualification in customer care
  • NVQ level 2 or equivalent in Administration within 12 months
  • ICCM 1 day course on statutory declarations
  • Ability to work with Microsoft applications such as Outlook. Excel and word and bespoke IT management systems
  • Good general education to enable effective verbal and written communication
