Full Job Description

  • Works with client account teams to gather intelligence and develop an understanding of capture and positioning activities

  • Manages a holistic approach to bidding, starting with the creation of a win strategy, using our agreed method, through bid execution to debrief

  • Manages delivery of the bid in conjunction with the capture manager and wider business

  • Works with the capture manager to identify all technical, work winning, commercial and marketing resources required to ensure they are mobilized as needed

  • Ensures the effective use of work winning process and tools, for all bids, to optimize the opportunity of winning

  • Engages early with marketing teams on campaigns to position AECOM with the client key decision makers for the opportunity

  • Coaches and trains bid teams in the creation of win strategies, writing and pricing bids

  • Manages legal and bid governance tasks, as well as Executive Boards in line with our pursuit process

  • Actively plans and facilitates positioning and bidding meetings and workshops

  • Manages the quality element of the bid, answer plan and review sessions, giving a clear brief of the task to writers and contributors

  • Manages the commercial element of the bid, facilitating relevant workshops such as pricing lessons learnt and commercial challenge team reviews

  • Manages and reports on the bid budget

  • Fully understands and communicates the project/framework scope and all bid document content to the bid team

  • Manages the creation of a shared area, bid folder structure, RAG deliverables and bid program

  • Oversees the communication of regular progress updates and identified risks to delivering a winning bid

    The Bid Manager is part of AECOM's regional Major Pursuits Team. They will use their experience and expertise to guide and collaborate with senior business leaders, technical teams, bid teams and capture managers to deliver winning bids. This position requires clear thinking, strong strategic skills, the ability to create empathy and rapport with internal colleagues and external clients, and a cooperative ability to constructively engage and lead bid teams in winning work.


  • This position demands demonstrable depth and breadth of delivering major winning bids. The Bid Manager must have experience in working with UK+I pursuit and bid teams to facilitate positioning, capture and bidding activities on major opportunities across a range of markets.

    The role's location is flexible and can be based anywhere in the UK, including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, and Basingstoke.
