As the Bid Manager, you'll play a crucial role in assembling and leading a bid team equipped with the necessary skills to create winning proposals in the Highways Maintenance Market. From identifying customer requirements to securing and mobilising contracts, this position offers an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking team committed to delivering outstanding proposals. What you'll be doing As a Bid Manager, you will have the following accountabilities:

  • To lead the pursuit of strategic bid opportunities in the Highways maintenance market
  • Develop and agree bid strategy with senior management to secure pipeline opportunities
  • Lead the pursuit of bids from early engagement and tender through to handover and operations
  • Responsible for bid budgets, programmes and quality of our tenders
  • Manage compliance with processes and ensure quality standards are maintained across the team(s), recommending improvements where necessary
  • Oversee the establishment, production, and implementation of bid management processes, including the following activities:
  • + Compile governance papers and liaise with estimating manager regarding tender settlement documentation (if required) + Bid management plans + Bid programmes + Liaison with supply chain members to formulate aspects of the bid offer + Review written technical, legal, and financial contributions to bids + Liaise on document control and register of clarification responses. + Record proceedings of meetings + Carry out customer intelligence gathering + Liaise on technological solutions for the bid via BIM and submissions technology + Carry out competitor SWOT analysis + Have full knowledge of the tender requirements ensuring compliance in all respects of bid deliverables.

  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary bid teams.
  • An organised, innovative, creative and experienced Work Winning professional.
  • Able develop relationships with customers.
  • Able to work effectively with operational teams to create compelling offers to our customers.
  • Excellent time management skills (achieving high standards within short timeframes).
  • Desired qualities:
  • Experience of highways maintenance and/or other engineering disciplines.
  • Degree level or equivalent in an engineering or associated discipline
  • APMP Practitioner
