Full Job Description

  • To determine Council Tax liability and accurately maintain Council Tax accounts for annual and daily billing
  • To respond to enquiries by telephone, letter, email, web forms and in person, and assist the NDR Officer with enquiries from Business Rate Payers, as required
  • To verify and issue Council Tax bills and adjustments notices to Council Tax payers
  • To receive and action various reports and forms e.g. tell us once, death list and housing weekly list
  • To work with the Benefits and Compliance Teams to ensure the necessary amendments are made
  • To set up new build properties on Civica and report to the Valuation Office for banding
  • To assist with the review of discounts, exemptions and disregards for Council Tax

    An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our successful Council Tax Billing Team. This role is interesting and varied and we are looking for an enthusiastic team player who can support us maintaining accurate records, deciding appropriate discount, exemptions and disregards amongst other responsibilities. You will also need excellent communication skills to liaise with the public, other Council departments, Llndlords and advice agencies.
  • Experience and knowledge of Council Tax and a relevant IT system is essential.,
  • Have experience and knowledge of Council Tax
  • Have experience of Microsoft Office and a revenues system, ideally but not limited to Civica Open Revenues
  • Have good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to support customers and stakeholders in a calm and sensitive way sometimes in difficult situations
  • Have the ability to demonstrate awareness and understanding of equal opportunities and other people's behaviour, physical, social and welfare needs
