Full Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in the University's commitment to achieving Biodiversity Net Gain by 2035. Working within the Environmental Sustainability Team, you'll develop strategies, oversee biodiversity metrics, and manage innovative projects that enhance biodiversity across the University estate and supply chain. In this role, you will:
- Develop and implement a biodiversity strategy to support the University's Environmental Sustainability Strategy.
- Lead the collection and analysis of biodiversity data using cutting-edge metrics, supporting evidence-based decision-making.
- Drive collaborative biodiversity initiatives across departments, colleges, and external partners.
- Oversee a pipeline of impactful biodiversity projects, from ecological surveys to supply chain assessments, and ensure they deliver measurable benefits.
- Act as an advocate for biodiversity, providing expert advice and inspiring change across the University community.
We are looking for someone with a proactive mindset, excellent communication skills, and a passion for sustainability. You will bring: - A relevant undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification.
- Knowledge of BNG legislation and it's impact
- Deep understanding of the impact of biodiversity
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to manage and interpret datasets.
- Experience in project management and collaborative teamworking.
- A positive attitude with a problem-solving approach to complex challenges.
- Knowledge of biodiversity metrics (e.g., DEFRA) or enthusiasm to learn and apply them. Desirable Experience
- Delivered biodiversity improvement projects or worked in biodiversity roles within large organizations.
- Experience reviewing ecological reports or assessing biodiversity impacts in supply chains.
- A background in biodiversity monitoring, reporting, or mitigation initiatives.
