  • Lead and manage planning projects with a specific focus on achieving Biodiversity Net Gain.
  • Provide expert advice on biodiversity conservation and enhancement strategies to internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders
  • Develop and implement Biodiversity Net Gain strategies in alignment with relevant legislation, metrics, and best practices
  • Build and maintain relationships with Local Planning Authorities, conservation organizations, Wildlife Trusts, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with ecologists, landscape architects, and engineers to integrate biodiversity considerations into projects.
  • Prepare technical reports for planning submission, condition discharge and Habitat Management and Monitoring Plans.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends in biodiversity conservation and planning policy.
  • Manage, mentor and support junior staff members in understanding biodiversity-related planning processes.

    Ground Control is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Specialist to join our dynamic and innovative team. We are an entrepreneurial, fast-paced organisation leading the way in biodiversity conservation and sustainability through cutting-edge strategies and we are at an exciting stage of growth. This role will suit a proactive, driven individual with a passion for making an impact in the BNG industry., Bachelor's or master's degree in environmental science, Ecology, Planning, or a related field.
  • Full member of CIEEM
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental planning, with a focus on biodiversity.
  • Strong understanding of biodiversity legislation, including national and local policies.
  • Proven experience in managing projects focused on Biodiversity Net Gain and working with tools like the Statutory Metric.
  • Familiarity with ecological principles, habitat assessments, and species surveys.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Experience in engaging with government bodies and local authorities with established contacts.
  • Proficiency in planning software such as GIS and ecological modelling tools, alongside Microsoft Office Suite.
