Full Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Biological Lab Assistant to join our research and development team. The ideal candidate will support both scientific investigations and technology development by performing a variety of laboratory tasks, including conducting experiments, preparing samples, and analysing data. This role is crucial in helping our team advance our understanding of biological processes and contribute to innovative solutions in the field. Additionally, the position holder will provide consultancy suggestions for lab management to improve efficiency and effectiveness.,

  • Laboratory Work:

  • Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, and work areas.

  • Conduct biological experiments and assays, including but not limited to PCR, gel electrophoresis, cell culture, flow cytometry, and microscopy.

  • Collect, process, and analyse biological samples (e.g., blood, tissue, and cell lines).

  • Data Management:

  • Record experimental procedures and results accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Maintain detailed and organized laboratory notebooks and electronic databases.

  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports, summaries, and presentations of findings.

  • Quality Control:

  • Follow all laboratory safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

  • Ensure the accuracy and precision of experiments by adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Calibrate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as necessary.

  • Support Duties:

  • Assist in the ordering and inventory management of laboratory supplies and reagents.

  • Provide technical support and training to new lab members and interns.

  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of research and technology projects.

  • Provide consultancy suggestions for lab management to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.

    Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a related field.

  • Associate degree with relevant laboratory experience may be considered.

  • Experience:

  • Previous laboratory experience, particularly in a biological or biomedical research setting, is preferred.

  • Proficiency in common laboratory techniques such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, cell culture, flow cytometry, and microscopy.

  • Experience with data analysis software and laboratory information management systems (LIMS) is a plus.

  • Experience with AABB (Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies) standards and guidelines is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems is preferred.

  • Working experience in large international corporations is valued.

  • Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

  • Ability to follow complex instructions and work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

    Work primarily in a laboratory setting with exposure to biological samples and chemicals.
