The Department of Blood Sciences at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital have x2 amazing opportunities to join our team of HBSA's (Biomedical Science Assistant - Higher Level). There is one post in the Blood Sciences Laboratories and one post in Point of Care Testing (POCT).
Please note, this role will predominantly involve working 37.5 core hours 09:00 - 17:30. However, there may be a requirement to spread these hours between 08:00 - 20:00, Monday to Sunday., If you would like to join a friendly, progressive, innovative team and play a part in the transformation of pathology services across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw we would like to hear from you.
The Blood Sciences HBSA post will rotate between the departments of Haematology and Clinical Chemistry. The post holder will be involved in laboratory duties supporting the scientific teams testing blood samples. Routine duties will include reception, storage and retrieval of blood samples, maintaining reagent stocks and equipment maintenance.
The POCT HBSA post is an integral part of the POCT team and will have a key role in supporting clinical areas with the operational requirements of running POCT devices such as Blood Gas analysers and glucose meters. The duties of this role also include ensuring quality and clinical governance is upheld with the use of POCT devices, staff training on the use of POCT devices, information management and consumables management of POCT devices all under the supervision of the POCT Coordinators.
