Full Job Description

The Haematology department at North West Anglia NHSFT have an exciting opportunity for a highly capable and enthusiastic HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join our dedicated team in a modern department, providing a high-quality Haematology and Blood Transfusion service. This post will be a job share, allowing for flexible working arrangements and collaboration within our team. Current experience in a UK NHS haematology and blood transfusion laboratory is essential for the Band 6 role and desirable for the Band 5 role. Our busy UKAS and MHRA accredited department is fully computerised (Winpath) and utilises the Q-Pulse quality management system. Equipment includes Sysmex XN track, Beckman Navios and Aquious Flow Cytometers, IL TOPs coagulation analysers, BioRad Variant II and twin Ortho Visions. There may be the opportunity for this role to become substantive at the end of the fixed term period., The successful candidate must have excellent communication and organisational skills, a proven track record in a busy NHS haematology laboratory or equivalent and be able to demonstrate a broad level of specialist knowledge and practical experience. They will be expected to participate in all aspects of the service including Routine Haematology, Coagulation, Blood Transfusion and the Specialist Haematology section and where appropriate will assist in the development of trainee staff. The department operates a 24/7 service. The successful candidate would be expected to fully participate in the departments 24/7 operating hours following suitable training and competency assessment. Participation in this rota will attract antisocial payment enhancements and additional hours, further details can be given on request.
