Full Job Description

We have an opportunity for an energetic, enthusiastic and well-motivated individual to join the Molecular Diagnostics Department at the Royal Surrey Foundation Trust as a full time permanent biomedical scientist at AfC Band 6.

The Department is part of Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services (BSPS) and provides ISO15189 accredited specialist molecular diagnostic services to six NHS Trusts as well as private healthcare facilities across the region. The department delivers a number of genetic services and specialises in the provision of services that enable cancer patients to receive personalised oncology treatments. The job advertised here is to assist in the provision these services., Key responsibilities will include performing and overseeing the processing of both manual and automated PCR setup as well as more complex molecular assay preparation such as sequencing and genetic signature analyses.

The post-holder will be active in the day-to-day management of laboratory processes as well as playing a significant role in the delivery and maintenance of the departmental quality management system.

Additionally the post-holder will assist in training junior staff and take responsibility for the release of patient results, appropriate to their level of training.

We are looking for an experienced state registered biomedical scientist who is proactive in developing laboratory processes, has a keen eye for detail and works well in a team environment.
