Full Job Description

This role is to join a friendly professional team in histology, assisting senior staff in the provision of an efficient, effective and comprehensive service in the cellular pathology department.
Participation in the junior rota covering all areas of laboratory processes, maintenance and monitoring
This post entails production of histological stained sections of surgical and post mortem tissues, which the consultant pathologist uses in diagnosis.
This is to be of the highest quality possible ensuring patients' needs are of paramount importance.
Requires completed IBMS registration portfolio and experience in a histology laboratory and be hold a current registration with the HCPC.
Further training is encourage, supported by CPD within the department, As per the job description, to work to a high quality standard as required by HCPC, demonstrating the histology preparation techniques required to have achieved the HCPC registration.
including:
taking part in laboratory rota as required - cut up, immunocytochemistry (ICC) OSNA, special stains, main lab, throw out and Digital Pathology.
Ensure all records are kept up to date and any non-conformities identified are recorded.
Take part in monitoring: temperature of ovens, refrigerators, freezers, wax baths and water baths as required, air-flow levels, balance checks, levels of Formaldehyde and Xylene, reporting any anomalies to senior members of staff.
Assist in the audit process as directed
