Full Job Description

Tees Valley Pathology provide a wide range of investigations to support the clinical activity within a busy progressive Trust and surrounding primary care locations. The Clinical Chemistry department is well equipped, with a Siemens Labcell system and associated analysers performing the bulk of the automated tests, supported by a variety of stand-alone automation and manual systems to provide the esoteric work. The Department is accredited by UKAS against ISO15189. There is a 24 / 7 shift system in operation in which the successful candidate will be required to participate across all sites. The Senior Biomedical Scientists manage the sections of the laboratory, supervise and train staff and assist with the development of the laboratory. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with strong leadership skills to enhance the team. Applications are invited from suitably qualified HCPC State Registered Biomedical Scientists (minimum, 3 years post registration experience) from across the Tees Valley Pathology Service for the post Senior Biomedical Scientist in the Clinical Chemistry Department at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust laboratories at The James Cook University Hospital Middlesbrough and The Friarage Hospital, Northallerton., Essential

  • HCPC Registration
  • Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD)
  • FIBMS, Master's degree or specialist training and experience to master's level equivalent.
  • Desirable
  • Supervisory, leadership or management qualification.
  • Knowledge Essential
  • Advanced knowledge of laboratory techniques and Biomedical science
  • Working knowledge of Pathology IT systems.
  • Knowledge of ISO15189 standards
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and Health & Safety measures
  • Desirable
  • Advanced working knowledge of Pathology IT systems.

  • Experience Essential
  • Significant post registration experience at Specialist Biomedical Scientist level or equivalent in Biochemistry
