Full Job Description

You will be supervised in the management of wildtype breeding colonies and work as part of a team to ensure all animal accommodation and areas of the holding facility are cleaned regularly as well as carrying out daily health and environment checks according to ASPA. Your responsibilities will also include carrying out Regulated Procedures on Protected Animals. Full training will be provided.

The successful candidate will have a passion for animal welfare and have knowledge of the requirements of the Animal (Scientific Procedure) Act 1986 which governs the use of animals in scientific research. You will either already hold a Personal Licence for Rodents and Zebrafish or must undergo training immediately upon starting in the role to obtain a Personal Licence. You will also have excellent team working skills whilst also happy to work independently, educated to GCSE level or equivalent, undertake their day-to-day work with an eye for detail and cost effectiveness and have very good communication skills. The role will also be key in keeping accurate records in accordance with local guidelines and national legislation.
