Full Job Description

18.75 hours Fixed Term 12 months

The Pathology departments at University Hospitals North Tees and Hartlepool (NTH) and South Tees Hospitals (STH) are working collaboratively to develop a joint service called Tees Valley Pathology (TVP) with services being delivered on all hospital sites.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with appropriate experience, knowledge and skills to join our scientific team and participate in the delivery of services provided by the Blood Science directorate which has laboratories at James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough and the Friarage Hospital, Northallerton. This will involve delivery of scientific support duties within Biochemistry, General Haematology, Coagulation and Blood Transfusion on both sites.

You will be expected to participate on a full shift system to cover weekday, weekend, evening and night sessions., The post holder will be expected to be flexible in their approach to working hours, participating and changing their shift patterns to coincide with the departmental needs as required on both sites.

Acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills for lone working in Blood Science and the responsibility of issuing blood products at the Friarage site This post will give good foundation knowledge and will be a pre-requisite to advancement from Band 3 to an Associate Practitioner Band 4 position should an opportunity arise.

Leadership and Improvement Training
