Full Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated paediatric nurse to join our friendly team. Our progressive Blood and Marrow Transplant Unit carries out over 100 Stem Cell procedures each year and is the largest paediatric centre in the UK. This is a high-profile and exciting role which involves the coordinating the clinical pathway for patients post Bone Marrow Transplant. As a Unit we are committed to your professional development and offer educational opportunities which can be individually structured to include study to degree or Masters Level. We have a team of Nurse Practice Educators who support staff professional development. We have a clear development programme which would provide the foundation for an exciting career in BMT. To be considered for this role you must have current registration with the NMC and excellent CYP clinical skills. This is a challenging and demanding role and we are looking for an individual who is ready for the next move in their career and demonstrates a desire to deliver a positive patient experience. You will need to be enthusiastic and motivated to provide an excellent standard of care to patients & families, have excellent time management skills. The successful applicant will have the support and opportunity to work closely with a team of Clinical and Research Nurse Specialists who lead and manage SCT and CAR-T patients within the Directorate.,

  • The post holder will be working as part of the Bone Marrow Transplant Outpatient Nursing Team.
  • The role includes re-establishment of responsibility of nursing care at time of discharge
  • Liaison with the inpatient CNS team.
  • To participate in implementing a plan of care which is regularly assessed and evaluated during the post-transplant period until the family is transferred back to the referring team.
  • Coordinating the BMT outpatient clinic including liaison with patients and families and the MDT.
  • To act as a resource to families during the BMT episode and help facilitate continuity of care between inpatient and outpatient services.
  • To liaise with the community services pre and post-transplant including GP's, Paediatric Community Teams and shared care hospitals.
  • To participate in the clinical preparation of families referred to BMT, including assistance with pre BMT investigations and psycho social support.
  • Regular clinical day shifts on Fox ward (1x 11.5 shifts per calendar month).
