Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Paediatric bone marrow transplant clinical nurse team as a Band 5 Co-Ordinator. You will need to be determined, driven, adaptable and enthusiastic. You will also need to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to work autonomously. You will work supporting the specialist nurses to ensure the smooth running of clinics, and management of post BMT patients on the Daycase Unit. You will work alongside members of the MDT and regularly liaise with families, providing teaching and information as needed. As part of your role, you will be expected to obtain bloods via venepuncture and insert cannulas if necessary. Therefore, previous venepuncture and cannulation skills are desirable but full training will be given if required. You will be required to have some Haematology/Oncology experience, with a keen interest in BMT, Managing BMT patients in Ward 84 Daycase/Clinic unit requiring medication/reviews. Booking patient appointment and transport. Assisting in post BMT Clinics. Arranging and managing ECP for patients. Completing patient referrals. Scheduling patients for theatre. Ordering of medication from pharmacy. Preparing bone marrow aspirate trays and distributing samples to appropriate labs, both internal and external. Discharge/medication teaching with families. Psychosocial meeting chair for BMT CNS team. Attending Doctors ward round. Compiling patient information packs. Auditing and updating/reviewing BMT SOP's. Organising BMT admissions. Attending EBMT conference. BMT teaching/presenting for students and new starters. Answering triage telephone call/queries.Production of BMT information boards.
