Full Job Description

We are excited to offer a full-time Bookkeeper position, reporting directly to the Chairman and Managing Director. This role will be based in our Letchworth office three days a week, with the remaining days working from home. However, we can adjust the working arrangements depending on work requirements.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to join Proceed at a critical stage in our growth. You will be instrumental inimproving and strengthening our finance function.

What you'll be doing

Uploading Invoices:

  • Accurately upload invoices into the financial system, ensuring all required details are correctly entered and properly categorised.

  • Verify that each invoice matches the corresponding purchase order and receipt, facilitating smooth processing and reducing errors.


  • Credit Control:
  • Proactively follow up on outstanding invoices and overdue payments to ensure timely collection and maintain healthy cash flow.

  • Communicate with clients and suppliers to resolve any issues related to payment discrepancies or delays, keeping detailed records of all correspondences.


  • Approving Expenses:
  • Review and authorise employee expense reports and vendor invoices to ensure they comply with company policies and budgetary constraints.

  • Cross-check receipts and supporting documents against submitted expenses to verify accuracy before approval for payment.


  • Updating Cash Flow:
  • Regularly update cash flow statements to reflect current financial transactions and projections, ensuring a clear and accurate picture of the company's liquidity.

  • Monitor cash flow trends and report any discrepancies or potential issues to management, providing insights for financial planning and decision-making.


  • Ensuring Accuracy of Financial Data:
  • Conduct thorough reviews of financial records and transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness, identifying and correcting any discrepancies.

  • Implement and maintain controls to safeguard the integrity of financial data, working closely with accountants to reconcile accounts and verify financial reports.

    · Experience in Financial Software: SAP, Oracle, or Xero


  • · At least 3-6 years of relevant experience

    · Demonstrated experience in ensuring compliance with UK financial regulations and reporting.

  • bookkeeping: 3 years (required)
