Full Job Description

Managing day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, including maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling accounts, and processing invoices.
- Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Monitoring income and expenditure, ensuring all financial activities are aligned with BCI's budget and forecasting.
- Overseeing payroll and pension contributions, ensuring compliance with UK employment laws.
- Managing supplier payments, student fees, and other relevant transactions.
- Ensuring that BCI complies with all financial regulations and standards, including tax and audit requirements.
- Working closely with the Principal and other staff to provide financial insights and support in decision-making processes.
- Assisting with budget preparation and cost control initiatives.
- Regularly updating financial data into QuickBooks Online and ensuring it remains accurate and accessible for reporting purposes.

The British Creative Institute (BCI) is seeking a dedicated and proficient Bookkeeper to provide contract-based accountancy services for our small to medium-sized educational institute. BCI specialises in offering post-16 courses tailored to learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). As such, we require a professional with a high degree of responsibility and sensitivity, capable of working in a unique educational setting.

The ideal candidate must be proficient in QuickBooks Online and have experience managing financial operations for small to medium-sized businesses or educational institutions. The role will require the applicant to engage with various financial tasks while working in a SEND environment, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and institutional policies., Proficiency in QuickBooks Online is essential.
- Strong understanding of UK financial regulations and tax laws, particularly in the education sector.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information with discretion.
- Experience working with small to medium-sized businesses or educational institutions.
- Ability to work independently and communicate financial matters clearly to non-financial staff.

Additional Requirements:
- The role requires the applicant to work within a SEND educational environment. Therefore, an extended DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check will be conducted prior to commencement of the role.
- The applicant must provide two character references and one professional reference.
- Candidates must reside within 5 miles of BCI's location (B44 8SF, Birmingham) due to the nature of the role, as remote work is not possible.
- The position cannot be offered to students or overseas applicants.
