Are you passionate about keeping people and products safe? The Border Profiling Unit within the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) is expanding, and we have an exciting opportunity for two dedicated individuals to join us as Border Profiling Administrators.
About Us: The Border Profiling Unit detects unsafe and non-compliant products entering the UK. By utilising an intelligence and risk-based approach, we collaborate with local authority trading standards teams and other government departments to prevent these products from reaching the market, thereby protecting consumers from product-related harm.
Your Role: As a Border Profiling Administrator, you will play a meaningful role in supporting and embedding our border profiling capability. You will contribute to the wider operations of the Border Delivery Team, ensuring the delivery of an effective and comprehensive border profiling operation. This is an exciting opportunity for a focused individual to be part of a team dedicated to consumer safety!, + Ensure timely and effective receipt, collation, and logging of import entries, making informed decisions throughout the referral process.
+ Gather and use information and data to support effective border processes, following guidelines from the Team Leader.
+ Record appropriate data accurately and develop reports based on collated data.
+ Work independently, demonstrating creativity and initiative.
+ Undertake administrative tasks to support the team, including administering team meetings and supporting logistics for external engagement.

The successful candidate will be offered the opportunity to undertake a Business Administrator Apprenticeship (Level 3) or another similar relevant qualification.
The Business Administrator apprenticeship is a minimum of 12 months and should typically be completed within 18 months. The apprenticeship provides a highly transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours, which can be gained working across an organisation and its processes. The apprenticeship is a firm grounding in organisational operations and functional processes, as well as the wider working environment.
The apprenticeship will typically take between 12 and 18 months to complete. If you do not hold a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths, you will be expected to do so as part of your learning, and before taking the end-point assessment., We'll assess you against these behaviours during the selection process:

It is likely that the sift will take place 1-2 weeks after the closing date and interviews 3-5 weeks after the closing date, though this is subject to change.
In the event of a large number of applications an initial sift may be conducted on the personal statement. Candidates who pass the initial sift may be progressed to a full sift or progressed straight to assessment/interview.
