Full Job Description

Caseworker Vacancy – UNISON Worcestershire Branch

UNISON Worcestershire Branch is currently recruiting for a Branch Caseworker to provide a comprehensive casework service to members. This vacancy has arisen due to the retirement of one of our longstanding caseworkers.

UNISON Worcestershire Branch represents members working for County and District Councils, Care Homes, support staff in Hereford & Worcestershire Fire Service, Further & Higher Education establishments and Schools (including academy trusts). The branch covers a diverse range of occupational groups.

There has never been a more important time to protect our members working in local government and encourage those that are not members to join a powerful voice. Are you a people person with good listening and problem-solving skills? Do you possess the determination to make a difference to people’s lives?

The successful candidate will bring their experience and skills to represent members both on individual issues and in groups, and by assisting workplace representatives. You will need to be able to demonstrate or quickly get up to speed on gaining a good knowledge of employment law, employment practices, policies and procedures as well as a good understanding of Trade Union Organising. You will need to have sound analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with developed communications skills, and be able to persuade others, including dealing confidently with difficult and sensitive situations, in a confidential manner. To undertake this role, you must have excellent administrative, IT and organisational skills.

The Branch office is in Worcester and you will occasionally need to be able to travel to workplaces covered by the branch, across the county of Worcestershire. Work related travel expenses will be reimbursed.

The post is for a working week of 28 hours. An actual working pattern will be agreed on appointment.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please apply online. Applications will be accepted by email with a CV and covering letter/statement to the same address. Please use the subject heading “Caseworker Vacancy”.

Please note that this post is a branch employed post and the successful candidate will not become a UNISON employee.

The closing date for applications is 5pm Friday 11th October 2024

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend for an interview in the week commencing 14th October (date to be advised).
